Honouring Women and Families United by Defence Service 2019
Wednesday, 14 August 2019, Canberra
SHARING OUR STORIES
THE HWUDS STORY
Following the success of our inaugural Last Post Ceremony and National Dinner in 2018, the 2019 Honouring Women and Families United by Defence Service event brought ten major organisations in the veteran space together with women and families whose lives have been impacted as a result of Defence service, to acknowledge and honour all those women and their families united by defence service.
2019 celebrates the Year of Peace, following the centenary of WWI ending last year. In celebrating peace, we honoured those who have made sacrifices for that peace; and for those who continue to make those sacrifices on a daily basis.
Over 500 people joined us in honouring the service and sacrifices of women and families united by defence service on Wednesday, 14 August 2019 in Canberra.
Last Post Ceremony
The Last Post Ceremony was dedicated to the service of female veterans over the last 100 years, who have given their lives as the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
National Dinner at Parliament House
The Dinner was held in The Great Hall at Parliament House. Attendees were taken on a journey from the past through to the present and future of women and families in Australia’s Defence Force.
